The Flu: Day 3
deadwoodchuck
I am slowly emerging from my virus/drug-induced stupor and it feels like the flu bug is finally winding down. Nice to feel somewhat human again. Watched a bunch of stupid movies; none of which I remember. Thank God. I also read Seanan McGuire's new Verity Price book. It is something of a blur so I will have to read it again before posting a review. My fractured memories suggest that it was pretty good.

Another day to recover and then I can spend the weekend preparing for my oral argument next week in front of the Wyoming Supreme Court. I am soooooo excited.

My Year in Music (so far)
deadwoodchuck
AKA, what I like or don't like so far. I have sorted them into "grades." Don't take them literally. What I like or don't like can often be a fluid thing that depends on my mood and just giving the album multiple listens. This is just a short-handed way for me to kind of separate, rank if you must, them. As the year goes on some albums will rise and others will fall. Such is life.

A Grade

My Bloody Valentine - m b v (long time no hear from)
The Men - New Moon
Bleeding Rainbow - Yeah Right (my favorite newly discovered artist of the year)
California X - California X
Frightened Rabbit - Pedestrian Verse (early days but in running for AotY)
Yo La Tengo - Fade
Fidlar - Fidlar
The History of Apple Pie - Out of View (seriously stupid name for a band, seriously good album)

B Grade

Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law
Local Natives - Hummingbird
Foals - Holy Fire (this will probably move up soon)
STRFKR - Miracle Mile (probably too high but a couple of really good songs make it difficult to drop)
Beach Fossils - Clash the Truth (starting to bore me)
Atoms for Peace - Amok (aka Radiohead lite)
How to Destroy Angels - Welcome Oblivion (this would have been much better as an instrumental)

C Grade

Eels - Wonderful, Glorious
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away (bigger fan of Grinderman)
Chelsea Light Moving - Chelsea Light Moving (potential here for better things)
Phoenix - Bankrupt! (bored already)
Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold (want to like this more than I can)

D Grade

Foxygen - We are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic (pretentious album name and boring pop/rock; there are not enough adjectives to sufficiently express my dislike of this)

Tegan and Sara - Hearthrob (probably not fair rating them since there was no chance I was going to like this)

Flaming Lips - The Terror (nope, still don't like them)
